Extraction & Preparation

Ore is carefully extracted from near-surface deposits using modern mining techniques, then crushed and sized to optimal particle dimensions — maximizing surface area for efficient chemical processing.

Heap Leaching

Crushed ore is placed in engineered heap structures on impermeable liners, then irrigated with dilute sulfuric acid. The acid dissolves copper from the ore, creating a copper-rich solution known as pregnant leach solution (PLS).

Solvent Extraction (SX)

The PLS undergoes solvent extraction to concentrate copper and remove impurities. Organic solvents selectively bind copper, producing a high-grade copper electrolyte solution while rejecting unwanted elements.

Electrowinning (EW)

The concentrated copper solution flows through electrowinning cells where electrical current plates pure copper onto cathode starter sheets — yielding 99.99% pure copper cathodes ready for industrial use without further refining.
